There's no coasting in library school

Silly me, when I listed out what remains to be done this semester, it seemed like so little. I mean, come on, they changed our last paper into a discussion...cake right?

Then why is it, the only thing I did all day yesterday is school work (and sleep)? I started Friday, took a little break Friday night (Peanuts Uno, whee!) and then started right back up Saturday morning.

Today's going to be more of the same, with a break for book club. Which brings me to:

45. A Long Way Down - Nick Hornby. The book club book, finished Friday afternoon. I didn't care for the beginning, as someone who's had depression most fictional depictions of depressed people strike me as false. But the middle got good. And then the ending got so-so. I don't remember loving High Fidelity either. I think Hornby and I are not a literary match made in heaven.

SB 11. Linked - Albert-Laszlo Barabasi. The subtitle is "How everything is connected to everything else and what it means for business, science and everyday life." To over-simplify it: he takes the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon game and applies it to the Internet, the World Wide Web, epidemics, trends and Fortune 100 CEOs. He explains the different types of networks and how they evolve and it was really interesting. And I have a soft spot for the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon game because it was conceived by 3 guys from Albright, my undergrad. I think that fact is even in their promotional brochures now.

And now there is more reading to do, finals to review for, numerous papers to skim and discussion posts to complete. And maybe a little nap.

Any guesses on the origin of the re-worded titular quote?
