Weather forecast for Pittsburgh, PA, October 20, 2005. High of 57, Low of 46. Rain changing to snow.
SNOW!
Oy, as if school wasn't bad enough, now they're trying to turn me into a Pam-sicle.
After a very computer intensive couple of days, for the first time this semester I feel like I may actually have a handle on things. Which is good because, you know, I am being graded. But it's also bad because we're basically halfway thru the semester already.
At Tuesday night's SnB there was great rejoicing because the back of the Anika sweater was completed. Wednesday morning there was great gnashing of teeth when I realized my gauge had changed and I had made up some new, sub-standard, way of decreasing. The bottom of the sweater? Drapey and flowy. The top? Stiff as the proverbial virgin in a strip bar.
Solution? If you don't know, you obviously haven't been paying attention to my modus operandi. I ripped. All the way back to the start of the raglan. I realized that in the process of fighting with the lumpy yarn I had started stitching really tightly, so there has been some deep breathing and quite meditation and a few rows have been re-done at the previous "lumps? what lumps? la-la-la" tension.
Note to self: When contemplating starting a pattern that requires some skill and ability to concentrate, it may be best to set said pattern aside until you're not completely freaking out about school. Instead, seam those 100 billion 3 inch granny squares into a festive blanket to help thaw you out when you return from the frigid Northeast.
Ynz all have a good weekend. I'll be back on Monday or Tuesday with family birthday tales and feats of academic daring-do.

Oooo bring home snow! I actually miss it, ya know. "Stiff as the proverbial virgin in a strip bar"??? You are a freaking riot.
I'll be in Virgina this weekend - not as cold as PA - but since i live in the artic tundra of the south - i never know what the weather will be like... have fun and build a snowman for me!!!
And I have to agree with Heather... "Stiff as the proverbial virgin in a strip bar" -- you're too funny!
I'd have to agree with the previous posters...you just crack me up!
I read Oryx and Crake too, but hated it! I work in a library (but don't have a MLS). I really enjoy your blog!
Snow?! Holy crap!! That would be enough to freek me out this early too and I'm further north than you. EEeek!
