...and call me a biscuit, look who's back!
I've relocated to a part of the world where that saying is considered proper etiquette. Aren't you jealous?
In the previous months, unbeknownst to the blogosphere-at-large, I had three interviews with a small hospital in Northern Virginia. I was offered a job as the medical librarian and CME coordinator and after some soul-searching and anxiety-induced dithering, I accepted. That led to a whirlwind of apartment searching, multiple TB test taking, loading up yet another Penske truck with all my belongings and dog transporting. Three weeks of inordinately steep learning curve later and I'm finally finding time to post.
Certain things have proved more difficult then you might think:
- My townhouse has wood floors and stairs. My dog has arthritis and weak back legs. I've bought a lot of area rugs and stair treads.
- Verizon decided my AZ id was fake since it didn't expire until 2035 and cancelled my phone and internet order without telling me and then they needed 2.5 weeks to flip some random switch somewhere to allow the necessary data steam to flow thru my phone line and then they emailed me to tell me my internet was connected because apparently I read my email with my mind and not a computer with internet access.
- I'm having trouble proving to the state that I am both a United States citizen and a legal resident of Virginia. Two trips to the DMV, one emergency birth certificate delivery and much waving of unsatisfactory documents later and still no drivers licence, car title or registration. It's past the point of annoyance and entered the realm of the absurd.
- Whoever had my phone number before I did apparently spoke Spanish and was delinquent in paying his home security bill. I'm beginning to doubt that he was a legal Virginia resident.
Good things have happened too:
- my parents came to visit and we baked a huge amount of Christmas cookies
- I finished a recycled silk bag for my sister
- I'm up to 88 books for the year. I might not make last year's total of 94 but I've moved twice and started a new job so I think it all comes out in the wash.
- I didn't have to get a record-setting fifth Measles Mumps Rubella shot to start work.
- There's supposedly a good LYS nearby which I am anticipating visiting soon.
- I survived my first snowfall in 4 years and my first snow-driving experience in 9.
I'm making a slightly premature New Year's resolution: more posting in 2008. I've missed y'all (that's how we talk here in the western part of Northern VA. Cute as a bug's ear, ain't it?)

Great sayings. Sure beats the Arizona, 'right on' and 'I know, right?'. So much more colorful. Welcome back to the blogosphere. I hope to join you soon!
Welcome back Pam!
I've been thinking of Lucy (Curly-Earl's look-a-like girlfriend) lots, and CRAVING some pictures of her on your blog. What did she think of frolicking in snow??? Did she go crazy and have fun?
Congrats on your new job.
Look forward to seeing your posts again and pics of Lucy the cutie-patootie.
