My car brakes had started squeaking lately so I took it in to be checked.
A bit of background: In Pennsylvania, you have to get your car inspected every year. The whole thing, not just emissions like here in Arizona. And every year, you’re told that your brake pads and shoes need to be replaced. It’s a given, you just factor it into the inspection cost. So I have very little experience with brakes actually wearing out, they never got that chance. Which led to my last car needing $500 worth of brake work. So I’m a bit paranoid about my brakes now.
More background: I am female. I am short. While I try to project an air of self-confidence, I know little about the inner workings of a car (I can, however, change a flat tire. This was the #1 condition before I could get my license, per Dad). I am the perfect demographic to get ripped off by shady mechanics. And I have been.
Point being: Took the car in, fully expecting to be told the brakes needed replacing, even if they truly didn’t. I just didn’t want to take a chance.
But – Brake Masters on Dobson and Chandler ROCKS. They looked at my car and told me that the brakes didn’t need work. That Jetta’s just squeak sometimes. That there was No Charge for the inspection. They didn’t condescend to me. They didn’t lie to me. They treated me like a real, live, grown-up human being.
And therefore, when my brakes actually do need work, this is where I am going. And this is where I will recommend my friends go. Isn’t it nice when everything works out?
In conclusion: My car squeaks, but not in a bad way. And Brake Masters on Dobson and Chandler is totally, truly the ginchy-est.

I am sitting here in shock. I am about to go to the AG with major complaints about them! A long, really horrible story. But, I'm so happy they at least treated you right!
